Reception’s ‘Special Story’ this week has been “The Enormous Turnip”. We started off the week by looking closely, using magnifiers, at some turnips and other vegetables. Next the children decided that they would like to see what is inside each of the vegetables. We saw some sheer will and determination from the children as they used the knives to cut open the larger vegetables! We began discussing what it means to be ‘healthy’ and one group of children had the idea of making healthy pizzas, so on Tuesday afternoon that is what we did. We were all so impressed with the children as lots of them were willing to try something new! We are also really pleased that the weather is starting to get better as it means we can get out on the trim trail, to exercise our bodies. In the later part of the week, we have been working with our friends to draw around each other’s bodies.
