Loatlands PSDSR

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website where we are delighted to showcase what makes Loatlands Primary School such a special place to learn.

At Loatlands we actively seek to work in partnership with families to nurture the whole child and develop the highest standards of education for children in all that they do. We believe passionately in creating a love of learning that will allow children to become enquiring learners in all areas of our enriching curriculum.
We welcome everybody to Loatlands and it would be my pleasure to show you our school in action. As Headteacher I am proud of our children and the superb educational experiences that we offer. To arrange an appointment to view the school see the contact us link for phone number and email details.

On Friday afternoon, Year 5 were delighted to be visited by a World War II evacuee, Mrs Eileen Farey, and her daughter, Mrs Leslie Harris, who kindly dressed as a land girl. Our visitors answered all of our questions and brought in interesting items from the war for us to see.

Eileen told us she and her sister were initially excited to be evacuated to Desborough but didn’t realise their parents would not be joining them. After six years with their foster family, the evacuees were scared to go back home.

We learnt more about what Desborough was like during the war and were shocked to discover that bombs were dropped over the town so that the pilots would have enough fuel to get home.

The children were fascinated and horrified to see the reality of different bathroom habits: newspaper or waxy toilet paper and chamber pots, let alone the tales of rats in the outside toilet!

Thank you to our special guests for making history come alive.

Safety

Ofsted said...

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff know how to spot signs of potential risks to pupils’ safety. Leaders know what to do when worried about a pupil. They seek further advice when needed and work well with other agencies

Reading

Ofsted said...

Leaders have prioritised reading. Pupils begin to learn the sounds that letters make as soon as they start school. They are well supported in the early stages of learning to read. Staff pay attention to how well pupils learn sounds
