We are learning about the environment and how to protect our planet from plastic and waste this term.
To help us start our topic we had a vsitor from Northants County council called David Heathcote. He came and talked to us about the importance of the 3R's ( Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) We learnt about how to protect our planet and that it takes 500 years for plastic to break down in landfill sites. David set up a waste sort for us to segregate the different types of recylable waste, and we had interesting discussions on what we could reuse various items for - as you already know, we are super at reusing wastse in our creative area so many ideas came from our enthusiastic year 1 children!
It was a very interesting morning and David told us that he was very impressed with our knowledge and learning attitiude at Loatlands! Well done year 1, you did us proud again.
Here are some photographs for you to see.
Don't forget to join us on our litter pick in Desborough next week ( Tuesday pm)
